Getting to Grips with Groups

About the Course

About the course: This is a 5 day intensive workshop for people wanting to get more out of the personal development group experience component of counselling and psychotherapy trainings. This workshop offers an immersive and reflective opportunity to learn more about what groups have to offer you and equally, what you have to offer groups.   Using a combination of small and large group reflective exercises, theory presentations and experiential group encounters this course will help you to:

  • Familiarise yourself with your ‘internal group’ and how this shapes your anticipation of and what you subsequently allow yourself to experience in the external groups you join;
  • Understand some key theoretical concepts in relation to groups and demystify the role of the group facilitator;
  • Enhance your potential to learn from the personal development opportunities and challenges that groups can offer students;
  • Benefit from peer and tutor feedback;
  • Feel more empowered, generous and authentic in groups.
