I work with individual adults and young people (age 16-18) in an open-ended way and I can offer both face to face therapy and some online sessions. My clients come with a variety of issues, such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, identity struggles, bereavement and loss etc. My aim is to create a safe, trusting space with my clients through careful attunement, listening and empathy; I try to hold a non-judgemental position that I hope will enable my clients to explore their emotional world. I use different developmental and relational ideas to consider how earlier trauma impacts a sense of self, as well as current relationships, including the one with me. I believe that unconscious processes, patterns and struggles may impact the way we are and behave. An awareness of how we create defences at an earlier point to protect us from anxiety or other intense emotional experiences, is also important in the therapeutic work. I might make links between the past and present, the mind and the body, and sociocultural influences to try and understand my clients in a holistic and inclusive way.

I hope all this helps my client build more of an emotional narrative for themselves and that they can begin to use their growing confidence in exploring their relationship with me, as well as relating more authentically and fulfillingly in external relationships.
I have a particular interest in working with diversity and inclusivity, and I am interested in exploring my clients’ lived experiences around marginalisation, difference and power structures including in the therapy room.
