We are seeking an ETG facilitator to work in the First Year of our training.  Minster Centre students in their early years of training participate in a weekly Experiential Training Group.  The aim of the group is primarily for students to explore their ‘social’ self construct, transferences, countertransferences, projections etc. – ‘live’ in the group system rather than as recounted in individual therapy. This increases students’ self-awareness both individually and in relationship. Students also make links in the live facilitation of the group with the theory they are learning during other parts of the course.

There is also an experiential assessment component of ETGs – to track over the years of training how students are developing personally. It is important for future professional practice that students understand and can identify when and how they regress and can find appropriate ways to contain this.

Students in Year 1 will have completed a Foundation year at the Minster Centre or elsewhere, they will not have started seeing clients but will be studying Counselling Skills, Object Relations, and Humanistic and Existential psychotherapy.

Requirements for the post holder are:

Previous experience of group facilitation, ideally in a training environment

Demonstrable ability to hold experiential learning in a group that focusses on personal and group process but allows space for theoretical and clinical learning

Extensive clinical experience as a psychotherapist

UKCP registration or BACP Accreditation

The groups for Year 1 run for 1½ hours on Tuesdays 6.30 to 8pm (exact times to be confirmed).

Please download the Job Description below for full details, including Person Specification.

Apply by completing an Application Form and Record Declaration (downloadable below) and sending along with a cover letter or email to Justine Walsh [email protected].

Deadline: 9:00am on Wednesday 21st August 2019

This post is being advertised internally and externally.  Applicants for these posts will be considered for any ETG facilitator posts in other years that come available for 2019/20.
